About Us

DVKK proudly shares the rich percussion traditions of Kerala, performing at over 30 events each year, including temple festivals, church celebrations, weddings, and community gatherings across North America.

Dallas Vadya Kalakendram (DVKK) began its journey in 2003, offering Chenda classes through teleconference sessions with the renowned Pallavur masters. In 2015, a crash course was conducted by these Gurus, and in-person classes
were held at the Guruvayurappan Temple, led by Cheruthazham Rejith Marar. The first major milestone came in 2019 with the Arangettam (debut performance) of 14 dedicated students.

DVKK was formally registered in 2022. That same year, the group earned first prize at the North America Panchari Melam competition, marking a significant achievement. In 2023, DVKK expanded its reach by starting online classes
under the guidance of Kalanilayam Kaladharan Marar and also gave a special performance at Comicon ’23.

The year 2024 brought further growth with the introduction of Edakka classes and the launch of the first ladies’ Chenda batch. DVKK also took part in the Mega Ayyappa Pooja in Dallas and contributed to various charity events.
In 2025, DVKK celebrated the Melam Arangettam of 10 students and the Edakka Arangettam of 4 students.
